First day back at work and first physical therapy session.
Work was a hot mess today, but I made it through the day. I will have to make some modifications, but overall I think it’ll be fine. Today was a light day so that helped too. Tomorrow is a very very bust day so I’m just hopefully that I will be able to get through it with minimal problems. I did realize that standing is easier for me while using the computer/mouse than sitting, so that’s something new. Our counters are a little on the high side so I think that’s why.
PT on the other hand was very interesting. They showed me 3 different exercises to do at home and 3 stretches to do as well. They also use this technique called Graston, I believe, where they use a metal instrument that looks like a tongue depressor and rub it along my arm. It’s supposed to break up the scar tissue and adhesions so that the muscles can heal and strengthen. The therapists can also use their hands, but this device is is metal so there’s less resistance. The downsides are that it can be pretty painful (and they aren’t using it that forcefully) and that it can cause petechiae which are little red spots on the skin caused by broken capillaries and can also cause bruising. I’m game for anything that will help me out and I’m okay with a little pain and the cosmetic issue (right now at least) is the least of my worries. I tried taking a picture of my arm to show you but it didn’t come out very well. I’m super pale with freckles, so I’m thinking maybe people won’t notice a bunch of red spots.
Sorry that got really technically and geeky…but I’m like that sometimes 🙂
